Happy Hoppers Fall card

I went to Hobby Lobby recently to see if they had any new stamps and look what I found! I just love the House Mouse stamps and now their new line of Happy Hoppers! I couldn't resist this cute little bunny with all the apples. I just loved this image.

I stamped the image on white card stock with basic black ink and colored it in with Watercolor Pencils and Blender pens. I haven't tried the blender pens with the watercolor pencils before. I usually use them with the chalks but just thought I'd try it and it worked perfect. All you do is color in the in image with the watercolor pencil, they work just like colored pencils. To make the watercolor effect, color the parts you want darker and then use the blender pen to pull the color across the image into the lighter areas. You can also use it to blend more than one color.

After I had the image colored I wasn't sure how to make it into a card because it's a rather large stamp and didn't leave much room for a sentiment or background or anything. I struggled with it a little bit but like what I ended up with. I started with an old olive card base. I mounted the image on real red cardstock. I punched a circle out of the same green as the card base and wrapped red gingham ribbon through the circle and around the image. This got layered on a piece of creamy caramel. (To make the holes in the caramel piece I used the paper piercing template). I then stamped the "hello" from In the spotlight and punched it out with the 1/2" circle punch and attached it with a dimensional.

I think it turned out pretty cute.

stamps: An Apple a Day by House Mouse Designs, In the Spotlight
ink: Basic Black, Watercolor pencils, creamy caramel
card stock: old olive, real red, whisper white, creamy caramel

Last Weekends Party...

Ok, so I'm a little behind in posting... These are the projects that we made at my customer/hostess appreciation party on the 19th. So, if you missed it, here's what we did...

First project: a 2-5-7-10 box.
If you'd like instructions, let me know because I did do up an instruction sheet for this one. It's made from one full sheet of paper and is super cute! For this one we used the Baroque Motifs set

stamps: Baroque Motifs
ink: purely pomegranate, wild wasabi
paper: purely pomegranate, wild wasabi, whisper white
accessories: celery grosgrain
other: paper piercing, punches, score blade on trimmer, sticky strip

Second project: Moose Card
For this card I used the Moose you set but wanted to make it a birthday card so didn't use the "moose you so much" sentiment on the bottom of the stamp. So I colored the moose with markers, omitting the bottom sentiment. By doing this I was also able to make him two shades of brown so his big antlers stood out more.

stamps: Moose You, Everyday Flexible Phrases
ink: chocolate chip marker, close to cocoa marker, mellow moss ink pad
paper: Mellow moss, brocade blue, whisper white, chocolate chip, close to cocoa
accessories: artichoke grosgrain, eyelets
other:
crop-a-dile, oval punch

Third project: Mini friend Pail
I found the cutest little pails...they're only like two inches tall. They're meant to be wedding favors but I just couldn't resist using them for this little mini make-and-take. I also was having tons of fun with my new crop-a-dile. The brad in the center actually goes all the way through the pail! It was SUPER easy to punch a hole in the metal pail using the crop-a-dile. You can even squeeze it with just one hand! I'm so glad I purchased this tool! If you're interested in learning more about it, contact me, I'd be glad to show you how it works. It also punches through chipboard like butter and sets eyelets easily and silently!

stamps: Simply Said
ink: apricot appeal, pumpkin pie
paper: whisper white, chocolate chip, so saffron
accessories: pumpkin grosgrain, fire rhinestone brads,
other:
crop-a-dile, 1 3/8 circle punch, scallop punch, tag corner punch, ticket corner punch, cello bags, chocolate

Baroque Motifs in fall colors

Ever notice how when summer starts to get towards the end and the holiday stuff starts appearing in stores that your color palette starts to change? I don't know about you but I'm suddenly starting to want to make cards using browns and rusts and fall colors instead of brights and pastels. I always go through phases on what colors I use the most!

This card is using the great & versatile Baroque Motifs set with Really Rust and Chocolate Chip. I love how this set can be used in any season just by changing the colors!

stamps:Baroque motifs
inks: Really rust, close to cocoa, white
paper: whisper white, chocolate chip, really rust
accessories: dimensional

Sweet Little Jelly Jar

I found these cute little mini sized jelly jars and thought they would be cute to embellish--I was right. The flower from the Doodle This set fits perfectly inside the lid. I stamped it once on a white circle and then again and cut it out to make a layered effect. I raised it up a little with dimensional dots and then added one of the new ice brads in the center--love these new brads!

Then ribbon, of course, and fill with treats. What a perfect little gift!

stamps: Doodle This
paper: whisper white
ink:basic black, colored with markers
accessories: teal grosgrain ribbon, ice brads

new scallop punch!

Check out my new scallop punch! I ordered it with my new catalog stuff but since it was back ordered at first it didn't show up until later. I really love it. It layers perfectly with the 1 and 3/8 inch circle punch. I used it with the In the spotlight to make some fun flower cards.

stamps: In the spotlight, Hugs and wishes
paper: Old olive, certainly celery, whisper white, pretty in pink, purely pomegranate
ink: purely pomegranate, pretty in pink, old olive
accessories: grosgrain ribbon in light pink and white, scallop punch, 1 3/8" circle punch, 1/2" circle punch, dimensional dots.

This card is similar to the last one, just a different color scheme and layout. I think this set coordinates really great with this punch. Now I have to search through all my other stamps to see what else it would go with.

stamps: In the spotlight
paper: Certainly celery, whisper white, so saffron, taken with teal
ink: taken with teal, always artichoke, so saffron, certainly celery
accessories: teal grosgrain ribbon, scallop punch, 1 3/8" circle punch, 1/2" circle punch, dimensional dots.

Another cat card...

Still playing with this set. I like that it's versatile enough that I could give this card to a guy if I use the right colors.

This card starts out with a really rust background. Then I used the Meow roller with so saffron ink on so saffron paper to make the yellow strip. I used the slit punch to make a scallop border across the bottom with black cardstock. The kitty from the Here Kitty Kitty set is stamped the in black and colored him with earth elements markers. I stamped the hat on a separate piece of cardstock and attached it with a dimensional dot. Then everything was attached to a really rust card background. I used a white grosgrain ribbon to accent.

I really like this color combination. I think it will be great for fall birthdays!

happy Birthday from the cat...

Here is a fun card I made using the new set Here Kitty Kitty! As a side note: I've decided one of my new favorite colors is sage shadow. I don't know why I never used it before. It's so so pretty...I love how it looks with chocolate chip.. So for this card I used Sage Shadow and the coordinating kitty wheel to create a background. I then stamped the kitty and colored him with earth elements markers.. I love how you can put a hat on him...and then used so saffron and chocolate chip papers to frame him. I used celery grosgrain ribbon and the circle punches to make the tag. If you can't read it, it says " happy birthday from the cat". I just love it!

stamps: Here Kitty Kitty, Meow roller
papers: sage shadow, so saffron, chocolate chip, whisper white
inks: basic black, sage shadow, markers
accessories: celery grosgrain ribbon, circle punches
