Retro Sketches Challenge!

I had so much fun making a card with this layout  for my mom (see post here) I thought I would try another one!  I'm finding that having a  sketch to start with is much fun and makes stamping time quick and easy! I love making cards but sometimes you don't have a lot of time so this is definitely the way to go!

This layout is based on sketch challenge #62 from retro sketches.

Here's the sketch:

Here's what I came up with:

I used the stamp set Summer Silhouettes from Stampin' Up! and a retired sentiment.
I stamped the images and then took some white bakers twine and rubbed over it with a sponge inked in rich razzleberry ink to give it a "purplish" hue!

stamps: Summer silhouettes, well-scripted (retired)

ink: rich razzleberry, pool party, lucky limeade, early espresso
paper: crumb cake, whisper white
other: bakers twine, sponge

10 minute Mothers Day Card!

I've been following the 10 minute craft dash on the pretty pink posh blog for awhile now and finally had 10 minutes to try one... he he he!

I needed some mothers day cards to send out... yep that's THIS weekend... so I thought it would be the perfect chance to try the dash!

Here's the challenge - you have to use the colors and make your card in under 10 minutes.  I love the yummy colors - they reminded me of the beach and since my mom loves the beach, I reached for my By the Tide Stamp set.

I thought this might be hard to do so I combined it with a sketch challenge that looked pretty simple from retro sketches.  I got out all my paper and stamps and then set the timer on my phone..

Here's the sketch:

Here's what I came up with:

Here's my end time -- just a tad over 8 minutes! Yeah! It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be... kind of fun too. I think it definitely helped to have a sketch to start with... sometimes I take FOREVER to figure out the layout for my cards so the sketch made it easy!!

stamps: By the Tide (SU), retired SU sentiment
ink: calypso coral, crumb cake, pool party
paper: calypso coral, crumb cake, pool party, white
other: bakers twine

Simple Spring Flowers!

Hope you are having a great weekend! Today I wanted to share a simple card using just 3 colors, black, white and daffodil delight. I love how the yellow pops off! This layout is really simple to do and you could easily switch out the stamp set or try a different color. Just cut 3 rectangles, randomly stamp and frame them with black. Easy Peasy!

stamps: fabulous phrases, Mixed Bunch
ink: black, daffodil delight
paper: black, daffodil delight, whisper white

Spring Dress Card

Here is another pretty Spring Card - this card would be perfect for any shower, wedding, or even just for fun. It uses the Scallop circle die in the Big Shot, which I cut out of Yellow first to make a template. Here's how I cut it-- The pencil lines were just my guide to make sure it was even on both sides.

I cut another circle out of white and traced my template and cut it out. After the dress shape was cut I ran it through the big shot again, this time with the Manhattan Floral Embossing folder. Pretty easy, overall but looks so pretty!

by the way - both the manhattan floral embossing folder and the friendly phrases stamp set are on the retiring list! Get them while you can!

stamps: Friendly Phrases
ink:early espresso
paper: pool party, crumb cake, whisper white
big shot: Scallop Circle Die, Manhattan Floral Embossing folder, perfect polka dots embossing folder
other: oval punch, seam binding ribbon
